DIY golden charms

My daughter Maya at one point in her life played with Polly Pocket dolls and accessories.

BEFORE
Instead of giving them all away, we decided to turn some of the plastic accessories into golden charms.
She had a lot of fun seeing the transformation. This is very easy to do.

AFTER

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Liquid Leaf can be purchased at most craft stores.I purchased one here for $5.99.
They come in silver, brass, and different types of gold. We used brass for our project.
You can use a paint brush to brush it on, or what we did was simply dunk it right in!

1. Use any kind of string laying around your house that you no longer need.
This is to loop around the toy. We used embroidery thread remnants.

*TIP: When you select your toys choose the hard plastic toys.
We tried some rubbery toys and they didn't dry as well.

Use about a 12 inch piece of string for each. You will need room to hold the string for dunking
and also to tie them up to dry later.

2. Please work outside. The liquid leaf is best used in a well ventilated space.
Dunk the toy into the liquid leaf one at a time.

3. Tie them to a wire hanger to dry.

4. Let dry overnight or until completely dry.

5. Once dry, cut it off the string.

6. Now you have beautiful charms to use as your heart desires!

We put split rings on our charms and hung them from various necklaces from brass chains to suede
and cotton cords. Maya is going to hand them out to her friends once school starts!
I think they would make cute party favors too!
