Classic French Toast

Growing up, my mama hardly ever made pancakes. She was an amazing cook and on Sundays she'd often make us crepes or French toast! I learned how to make french toast from a very young age because its so easy! Its such a great way to use up day old bread too! You can find our recipe below...

Recipe: Classic French Toast (serves 4)

8 slices bread ( a dense bread like ciabatta, french, or sourdough bread works great)
1 1/2 cup Milk (you can use heavy cream if you want a richer french toast)
3 eggs ( I like to use cage free eggs, but any will do)
2 tsp vanilla
dash of salt
Butter (for pan)
Maple syrup
Confectioner's sugar (powder sugar)

Combine milk, eggs, vanilla, and salt in a bowl. Soak slices of bread in the mixture.
Melt some butter in a pan on low heat so that the butter doesn't burn. Coat entire pan. Put the soaked slices of bread in pan and increase the flame to a low medium. Wait a few minutes until the bread is a golden brown. Flip over and repeat. Serve with drizzle of maple syrup and sprinkle powder sugar over it.
Add some sliced strawberries or other berries on top if you desire.

Enjoy!
